DIVA DISH: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders

DIVA DISH: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders

After the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders GIVEAWAY, I got LOTS of emails and some notes on FB asking how they work and how they look on skin. So here’s the deal…

HOW THEY WORK:

These six new colored finishing powders by Hourglass (which got tons of buzz on the Sephora HOT NOW list) create a flattering faux lighting effect with photoluminescent technology. The shades capture, diffuse, and filter light to cast the following gorgeous glows:

  • Diffused Light: a pale yellow glow that offsets redness
  • Mood Light: a sheer lavender glow that brightens the complexion
  • Ethereal Light: a cool moonlit glow that eliminates shine
  • Dim Light: a neutral beige glow that blurs imperfections
  • Luminous Light: a champagne pearl glow that looks candlelit
  • Radiant Light: a sun-kissed gold glow that enhances and warms the complexion

Unlike powders that mask skin (you know, the ones that give powder a bad name – drying, aging and chalky), these actually make skin look fresh and radiant. They cast a subtle but enhancing glow that looks great in person and in pictures. They can be used all over or to highlight specific features.

They are perfect for #selfies, hence the brand promise: #NOFILTERNECESSARY.

HOW THEY LOOK:

I was shipped Diffused Light, Mood Light and Ethereal Light to review. They are beautifully packaged and the shades look soft and silky in their compacts. Like me, Intern GaYoung was totally intrigued by them – so I gave her Ethereal to test and she plans to report back. I happily tested both Diffused Light and Mood Light and… drumroll… LOVED both. And, was pleasantly surprised by how different the effects really were.

Diffused Light is amazing concentrated more in the center of the face plus to set concealer and brighten under eyes. Mood Light casts a super-romantic soft lilac sheen. See for yourself…

BONUS: The powders also are beautiful on the collarbone and would work well dusted down the center of the legs — especially the yellow, champagne and gold shades.

Hourglass Ambient Light Powders retail for $45 each and are sold at Sephora and on sephora.com.
