Redken Color Rebel Naturals is for the rebel-ish. And I’m not ashamed to say that at this point in my life, I’m ok to be in this class when it comes to my hair color. Because I can be a unicorn on the inside, dammit.

The original Color Rebel had bold crayola color and because it’s temporary and wash-out, you can have a lot of fun with it. Intern Trish definitely did. And for the right occasion, I would too.

But Color Rebel Naturals is for those who want a streak or some ombre or a few highlights in more naturally-occurring shades.

There’s a blonde, a hazel, a rosegold, a copper and a brunette (as featured above).

As a big fan of rosegold in all things fashion and beauty, I went with Rose Revolution for my test. (Redken sent all five shades.)

The color is gorgeous but it comes out pretty wet from the sponge tip and has to dry so it looks a bit sticky at first. Depending on your hair texture, I would not recommend applying the product and going out right afterwards. It may not appear natural because of the texture (more than the color). Once it’s dry, I brushed it through a bit and it still looked a little fake (a bit metallic and you could see little particles).

Then I slept on it.

And then it looked great.

Since I color my hair, it may be on the drier side. I may have need my natural oils to come through.

Either way, it lasted a full workweek (Mon-Fri) because I washed my hair only 2 or 3 times.

Kind of like a fake tattoo, I love the option of playing with something that in a few days will no longer be there. Easy to apply, with no commitment. Redken calls is “hair makeup.” What’s not to love?

Go ahead, be a rebel!! Sort of.
