Diva Does… Opposites Attract [Maybelline Vivid Matte Lipcolor and Pur Minerals Double Ego Liner]

Diva Does… Opposites Attract [Maybelline Vivid Matte Lipcolor and Pur Minerals Double Ego Liner]

Growing up (and to this day) I had a blonde best friend named Joanna with blue eyes and lighter skin (that is now self-tanned to golden perfection). She was the Betty to my Veronica. A reference that is totally lost on my supercute sister-in-law Chloe and her supercute blonde BFF Tiffany with green eyes and lighter skin. But that similar coupling of two girls with contrasting features is not lost on me — and is one I love. So in celebration of opposites attracting and bestie beauty, I did mini-makeovers on the girls, highlighting eyes on Chloe and lips on Tiff with new products I brought with me to test while in California.

On Chloe, I centered the look around Pur Minerals Double Ego Eyeliner ($21) in Bali. One end is a felt-tip precision liquid liner and the other is a smooth workable pencil tip. I applied the liquid side to create a dramatic cat-eye on Chloe’s upper lashline and the pencil side to rim her lower lashline. This mineral liner is long-lasting and (full disclosure!) perhaps too long-lasting! We could not get the liquid side off no matter what we tried (eye makeup remover, makeup wipes, oils). Chloe had a tropical green tint for a day or two on her upper lashline, which oddly yet fortunately paired nicely with Christmas festivities.

On Tiffany, I centered the look around Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lip Color ($8) in Fuchsia Ecstasy. Vivid Matte is like a bolt of pigmented color that is super creamy and incredibly cushiony. It has more slide that most liquid lipsticks and is more demi-matte than full matte. I happen to like both aspects of the product though because it lasts a long time while remaining comfortable. Nothing worse than a drying, tight lip color! Ughhhhh. And I’m not the only one who digs these tubes. Everyone I use Vivid Matte on, from models to friends, wants to keep the product. Which says it all.

In typical best friend fashion, and given the #instaworthy nature of the two looks, we HAD to have a photoshoot. OBVI.

Here are my favorite shots…
