If you know me, you know that for the past two years I’ve been wanting to start wearing lipstick. To this day, I still can’t tell you why I haven’t… My normal make-up regimen is very bare and natural (brows, lashes, blush) and chapstick is the only thing I use on my lips. EVER.
But being able to work with LDiva has allowed me to take on this mini beauty dare: trying a bold vamp lipstick. In this case, Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Crème Lipstick in Nocturnal.
The shade is a deep plum red – the perfect lipcolor for the transition into fall. It’s also perfect for the day-to-night transition, with just enough brightness to pop your daytime outfit and just enough intensity to rock a night out. The vibrant color made me excited to channel my inner diva!
The lipstick itself has a creamy texture and is smooth to apply. It was moisturizing to my lips and felt like a balm. It also has a shiny finish which gave a glossy effect that had me puckering up all night just to show it off!
I really loved the marriage of balm and gloss and color that the Femme Rouge lipstick offers. It’s the best of all worlds to be able to get a silky soft nourishing feel with such amazing color.
The only downside I found was that it does tend to smear, which resulted in the need to reapply in order to get the original finished look. I actually accidentally smeared my shirt while getting ready the first time I tested it! Once I got over that hurdle (remember I’m a lipstick novice!), the lip color remained in tact for a decent amount of time.
With this lipstick, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. I’ll definitely be using this shade again. Plus if I were ever to run out, this particular lipstick is refillable… literally. Refill cartridges are sold separately. Definitely a plus after falling in love with the shade! We all know how frustrating it can be to try to find a replacement for one of your essential makeup products!!
All in all, Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Crème Lipstick provides great color, texture, and finish that’s wearable from day to night! So go on, divas, and rock that vamp lip!
