NYFW: Backstage Beauty at Cristina Ruales SS’17 with Inglot

By far, my favorite backstage beauty experience was with Inglot at Christina Ruales SS17. In the Inglot Studios, located above Chelsea Market, a layout of black-toed ballet dancers with a single pitch-black stroked eye danced in formation in the middle of the stage.  Hair slicked back and bangs cut sharp and short, this is just the beginning of the last presentation for my Sunday evening.

Very high contrast, against porcelain skin, black brush strokes cohesively compliment the clothes displayed in Christina Ruales’ Spring/Summer 2017 collection.

For the dancers, Inglot’s #77 gel liner mixed with the #1 Kohl Pencil were used with a lash wand to spread out and create textured brush strokes along the hairline and down towards the nose in a long swoop. For the models, the same three components were applied, however those ranged from brow bone to just underneath the eye, feathering outward towards the outer corner.

For lips, Inglot’s #92 Liquid Face Blush (peachy-coral) was used, with the edges blanked out.

NAILS

For nails, a minimalistic, graphic effect was applied by creating thin, black lines on the center of each nail, using Inglot’s #953 Black Nail Enamel.

HAIR

Hair styling by ARROJO was nothing “short” of fascinating. For the dancers, slicked back buns were a key feature, with choppy black bangs added for effect.  As for models, textured and choppy hair was one look, along with some slicked back ponies and again, the choppy black bangs.

Overall, this was certainly a different vibe from the fresh-faced, dewy-skin theme we’ve been seeing all over #NYFW, and I for one am all for it!
