The Lettuces: Pandemic Pregnancy

The Lettuces: Pandemic Pregnancy

A lot of women who are currently pregnant or just had babies are advising others to wait. While every situation is unique and personal, I am not one of them.

Based on my past experiences, and despite the current challenges, I would not have waited.

But my advice is also not to do what is right for me but what is right for you.

I shared my perspective for this article on Insider.

One thing that didn’t make the article that I feel really strongly about is not basing decision-making on fear – so the fear of getting too old or it being too late (if you wait) or the fear that something may go terribly wrong due to unknown effects from, or complications associated with, covid (if you don’t wait).

I think of course understand all the risks and how they affect you individually (especially anyone with a pre-existing health condition, or like me with a very recent history of back to back miscarriages after a super simple first pregnancy) and also consider changing financial and social implications — but overall not be scared into either doing or waiting. I feel like the fear is pushed on both sides. It’s not helpful.

Do what feels best for you and your family.

Being pregnant in many ways requires a bit of faith and that is no different now.
