Back in my formative years, I religiously read Sassy magazine and wore cult-fave reddish-brown Toast of New York lipstick by Revlon. Of course I prided myself on discovering both before anyone I knew did. That was sort of a big deal back then. #FIRST
Fast forward more years than I’d like to count and I find myself haunted by the Ghost of 90s Past.
Warm, rich neutral lips are BACK — along with countless other 90s trends that should or should not have been left behind. I guess we can all decide for ourselves.
I was definitely not into the resurgence.
Until I caught sight of the Just Cavalli Spring 2014 ad campaign. Wow.
As fate would have it, right around this time my Maybelline friends shared some goodies with me and included in the fun assortment was Maple Kiss lipstick from the new Color Sensational The Buffs collection.
Clearly the makeup gods were speaking to me and I knew better than to ignore them.
So with visions of the original 90210 and Reality Bites along with sounds of Pearl Jam and the Singles soundtrack running through my mind, I bit the bullet. Or more like, swiped on two coats directly from the bullet.
And here’s how it came out.
You be the judge. 90s Brown. Bring it back or let it go???

How did I miss this?! *Insert heart eyes emoij* !!!
This is the one trend I’ve always wanted to try, but I feel like with summer tan skin, it wouldn’t work so well with me :(

What?? I think there is THE brown/nude for every skintone so you just have to date around. Go to a department store and hand swatch it up!! XOLC
