If there’s one thing we can all take away from the beauty looks at the Spring/Summer 2014 New York Fashion Week shows, it’s that the nude lip trend is HUGE, and it won’t be fizzling out any time soon. As you may recall, it was also a hit during the Fall 2013 runway shows. The nude look was beautifully showcased during NYFW SS 2014 shows such as Candela, Marimacho, Tory Burch, Tanya Taylor, Proenza Schouler, Zac Posen, Alexander Wang and many more.
We’ve all heard the saying “less is more” – and it definitely applies for the coming seasons. Invisible makeup or “no-makeup-makeup” is definitely a great way to embrace your natural beauty. And there’s no better way to rock the barely-there look than with a gorgeous nude lip shade.
So without further adieu, here are my top three nude lip products. (And the best part is they work for all seasons!)
Lipstick: Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Champagne on Ice
Why I love it: I chose to share this particular lipstick because it’s neither matte nor shiny. It’s right in-between. It also has a frosted finish – and I love it! The name “Champagne on Ice” perfectly describes what the shade looks like on lips. It’s a basic matte nude base with a bit of frosty sparkle on top. What’s great about this lip shade is that it caters to the nude lip trend, while also adding a bit of glamour.
Lip Gloss: Lancome’s La Laque Fever in Lucent Nude
Why I love it: Most glosses are too sticky (and we all know what it feels like to be wearing lip gloss on a windy day!) — La Laque Fever isn’t too sticky, isn’t too shiny and most importantly, feels smooth and hydrating on lips. It gives that plump, kissable appearance without the mess. And as advertised, you get long-lasting shine. This pinky beige is the most amazing lip gloss I’ve ever tried. Ever.
Lip Balm: L’Oréal Paris’ Colour Riche Balm (SPF 15) in Caramel Comfort
Why I love it: I am so, sooo in love with this lip balm! It’s basically tinted chapstick – so you get the nourishing treatment of a balm plus the beautiful color of a lipstick. This product NEVER leaves my makeup bag (and with good reason!). If you start the morning with lipstick, you can just switch to this balm for the remainder of the day. It prevents lips from drying out and maintains pretty color. It also has SPF 15, always a bonus!
Smooches!

I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve tried to force nude lipstick to look good on me. And I think I just never knew the right shade of nude, but these look a lot darker than the ones I’ve tried on (which is probably what I should be wearing due to my skin tone). LOVE L’Oreal’s Colour Riche line, definitely will be trying that one out :) Great review!
Hey Jessica! Nudes are so tricky! The Revlon Super Lustrous is actually pretty light but the sheen gives it a nice touch for sure. And I def agree with you about L’Oreal’s Colour Riche. :)
Anyone can go nude!!! Nude does not have to mean light beige or cream colors (a common misconception). And those shades may translate as mod or even chalky on deeper skin tones. Think of “NUDE” as all fleshtones, which is a wide spectrum.
Everyone can find that nude shade that best compliments their unique skin — and lip — tone.
