Soo… it’s been a while since you went on a first date, OK, it’s been a while since I went on a first date. And besides the initial jitters about meeting someone you’re interested in for the first time, you also have to think about how you want to present your best self. The key is to make yourself feel as comfortable and confident as possible so you can focus on the task at hand: getting to know your date and seeing if you’re a match!
The first thing you want to consider is the date itself — where you are going and what will you be doing.
For instance, if you’re going horseback riding you’re not going to want to wear a full face of makeup and heels. Ok, maybe some of you will. But for most, comfort would be best for a daytime date like this. Opt for fitted jeans, a cute top, and some endearing riding boots with minimal makeup.
If you are going on a more classic dinner and drinks date then def dress up a bit and put some effort into your makeup look. I suggest going for the “barely anything on” guise. Basically, your look should bring out your natural beauty (which guys LOVE!) not your inner drag queen (stay away from the red lipstick on the first date,UNLESS that is what’s natural to you).
This past weekend I went on one of the classic dinner dates. I wanted my skin to look flawless, but touchable. Not that I expected there to be any hands on my face, but the hand on chin for that goodnight kiss never hurt anybody ;).
To perfect the skin, it’s imperative to moisturize and prime your face. I love Clarins Beauty Flash Balm to brighten and tighten before my foundation. After my skin is prepped and ready, I used Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua in 30 Beige foundation. It’s best to apply this foundation with fingertips in circular motions all over skin, even eyelids! Once foundation is buffed into skin, use a concealer stick to cover any flaws. I added just a touch under the eyes and on any blemishes using a dome shaped fluffy brush. Then I used a cream shadow from Smashbox in Icon on my eyelids from lashline to the crease to give my eyes some depth, and right under the lower lashes. A curl of the eyelashes using Kevin Aucoin’s curler (the best!) and a few coats of my fave mascara by Maybelline Great Lash completed the eyes. To warm up the skin, I used a big dome brush to apply Soleil Tan De Chanel bronzer through the cheekbones and around the face for a natural glow. Finally, I added a touch of pinky-peach blusher by Chanel in Espiegle to the apples of my cheeks and finished the face with Lorac Couture Shine lipgloss in Vintage.
As long as you look and feel your best, you will be sure to have a fab date night!
Happy dating! :)
