NOTE: This post was originally published on Instagram. I am reposting and backdating it here as part of a historical series in order to preserve these meaningful memories and early motherhood thoughts and experiences in a way that is not tied to any social media platform. This is something I’ve been wanting to do for some time. As we formally shelter in place in NYC, this project brings me happiness and a welcome break from the news. 🖤
I know I needed you but I never showed. I wanna stay with you until we’re grey and old.
👰🏻🤵🏻—>👵🏻🧓🏻
Unfortunately this may occur sooner than predicted… 🔮
Parenthood inevitably changes your relationship. You are more a team than ever but it’s never been less about the two of you. Which is a new and strange dynamic.
Sprinkle on the stresses of a newborn turned infant, and you may find yourself sleep deprived in the middle of the night trying to communicate over a crying baby, a zen sleep songs app and a blasting white noise machine. It’s not always picture perfect.
The good thing about relationships and parenting is that while there are no do-overs there are always do-betters.
We are waking up each day learning the baby ropes, until they change, and learning them again. As a team. A tired team. But still undefeated. 🏆
