InternDIVA: Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm

InternDIVA: Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm

We all know that as we transition from Fall to Winter and the temps continue to drop, the trend of dark colors is here to stay. Burgundies, deep purples, a crimson red lip. We love these looks dearly. BUT as people say, change is good. (Ask fellow DIVAlicious intern GaYoung who in her latest post finds herself basically ready to take over the world with super-fierce electric blue eye makeup!)

I myself took a deep breath as LDiva handed me over Revlon’s latest Colorburst Matte Balm in 245 – Audacious, a shocking orange-y coral shade that was way different than my usual vamp lippie. I was so intrigued by the design of the packaging; it looked like a jumbo-sized crayon! So despite my hesitation regarding the shade, I immediately applied it to satisfy my curiosity.

I turned around and all I could hear were WOWs from LDiva. She raved about how awesome the color looked on me, even though I did find the deeply-pigmented matte orange to be pretty intimidating. It didn’t seem like an everyday color, nor did it feel right wearing it mid-vamp season. But I wanted to like it because I’ve always wanted to be a part of the orange lip trend, so I continued to wear it a few more times at home.

Aaaand what did a few times of wear do? I finally realized why LDiva loved the color so much on me, because I totes felt the same way. It grew onto me, and I gained confidence since I hadn’t made a bold change in my lip collection for a while. The orange was a pop of color that helped bring attention to my #allblackeverything outfit today, and thanks to the compliments I received, I said my apologies for my initial doubts right away.

SO now that my color crisis is over, let’s get down to business. I actually LOVE the fact that this matte balm is shaped like a super-sized lip liner. With a cone-shaped tip, it’s easy to outline my lips first for precision as well as to avoid color bleeding, and then fill in the rest after. Application-wise, the balm glides right on thanks to its ultra creamy formula. I do suggest a few swipes back and forth for complete coverage, but don’t worry, the color is here to stay for HOURS (I’m talking 4-5!). Plus, you get nice minty kick out of this lippie. How complimentary for the upcoming holidays!

Revlon wasn’t lying when they claimed this lip balm to be ultra matte. The finish is soft, velvety, and above all, surprisingly moisturizing post-application. I like that the formula is lightweight and easily wearable compared to the typical dense matte lipstick, so it never feels too heavy or too cakey (which I am certainly not a fan of).

Final verdict? It took some time for me to get here, but I give the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm a thumbs up. Its quality and staying power are phenomenal, and boy did Audacious teach me a lesson to be more bold!
