The Lettuces: Quarantine Maternity Photos

The Lettuces: Quarantine Maternity Photos

I always love other people’s professional maternity pictures and family portraits. But for us they just seem too formal or polished or posed. Doesn’t exactly fit us. Or at least now. (Never say never!)

I also have an issue with someone else owning (the rights/property of) photographs featuring us in them, able to use them for their own purposes.

At the same time, I do want to document this pregnancy and preserve this moment in time.

I used to get by with a little help from my friends, my husband, strangers on the street — or even a trusty tripod. Or if I wasn’t in the shot, like a closeup of my son, I’d take it myself. I can also do the minimal cleanup like color correcting.

But in quarantine, finding time and setups and backdrops or even capturing candids while chasing and caring for our toddler and also running and growing our startup has proven most challenging.

Every so often, though, I get some good ones.

Not perfect. Not award-winning. But real or happy or strong.

Below are a few.

And with only 8 weeks left until this little diva joins us, I need ideas for at-home or close-to-home final maternity shots — and of course, newborn and family-of-four photographs!!!

Please share if you have any!
