The Lettuces: Wild Wild West

The Lettuces: Wild Wild West

NOTE: This post was originally published on Instagram. I am reposting and backdating it here as part of a historical series in order to preserve these meaningful memories and early motherhood thoughts and experiences in a way that is not tied to any social media platform. This is something I’ve been wanting to do for some time. As we formally shelter in place in NYC, this project brings me happiness and a welcome break from the news. 🖤

Now let me welcome everybody to the Wild Wild West.

☀️🌴

This babe is taking well to Cali living.

But the flight to get us here was brutal.

We were “the parents of the inconsolable screaming baby.”

It wasn’t the whole 6 hour cross-continental trip. But conservatively at least 2.5 hours of screaming, crying, and some full body jerking for dramatic effect.

Nothing in our literal and figurative (large and overpacked) bag of tricks was doing a thing. It was truly a fucking nightmare.

Some people were very kind. A few people sucked. And the girl next to us got up mid flight, leaving all her things, and never returned. (We were kind of shocked she didn’t do it sooner.)

But we survived. 🏅

Parenting: It’s warm fuzzies and heart explosions or straight up survival mode.
