DIVA DISH: Balm Chicky Balm Balm

DIVA DISH: Balm Chicky Balm Balm

So when you’re in a relationship, you share pretty much everything. Including germs. Still, when we got these double-ended lip balms from adorable and witty brand Balm Chicky Balm Balm, that touted its germ-free innovation, we were psyched. Here’s why…

My fiancé (and it feels bizarre calling him that but I was told – by a very wise NYC taxi driver – that if I continue to say my boyfriend it’s like saying I’m a freshman when really I’m a sophomore – and that our relationship has graduated, so to speak, to the next level)…. anyhooooo… my fiancé & I love us some lip balm. Love love love. Apply it in the morning, reapply it during the day, apply it before bed. We’re always getting balmed ;)

But unlike my fiancé, I also wear colored lip products like lipstick, lipgloss and lipstain. And that color transfers to the tip of the lipbalm. And if we share, he ends up wearing a hint of tint or worse, sparkles.

So when Balm Chicky Balm Balm sent us samples to test, and we finally figured out how to work the friend end (we must have had a simultaneous brain freeze), it was a win.

“With The Friend End, users can reserve the main side of the tube for themselves while sharing the opposite end filled with a separate pot of balm for any opportunistic friends who ask to borrow some.”

Balm Chicky Balm Balm is 100% natural and made of organic extra virgin olive oil, organic palm oil and organic hemp seed oil, beeswax, rosemary extract and vitamin E.

We tried Huge Cucumber & Mint and it was divine.

Other flavors in the kitschy Balm Chicky lineup:

  • Wild Mountain Honey & Clementine
  • Sweet Baby Ginger
  • Hot Chocolate Love
  • Juicy Melons (kind of wished we got this one just so we’d have legitimate reason to talk about our Juicy Melons)

2015-04-17 17.54.55The only thing not supercute about the balm was when it melted a bit (oh nothing like New York heat & humidity) and was unable to twist out of the end and stuck to the cap. We tossed ours in the freezer though and when we retrieved it, it worked fine after that. And was nice and cool to the touch, as a surprise bonus.

The owners of Balm Chicky Balm Balm, after getting no love on Shark Tank, dusted themselves off and locked in distribution for the line at Target. No small feat. According to CEO Liz Moskow, “we feel we can create amazing, healthy, effective and thoughtful products, for women, by women.” Go ladies!

Balms are $7 and sold online in addition to many Target stores. PS, you may also want to peruse their vintage sticker and t-shirt line. Kind of #AMAZING.
