The Dish with DDR: Trending – The Orange Lip

We’ve seen it on Emma Stone, Jessica Chastain, and Amy Adams. Now, you can learn how to pick your own shade and get the look!

Orange is the perfect shade to make a statement this summer. It’s a bit edgier than pink or nude but not too over-the-top.  There are many varieties of orange that can liven up any skin tone.  For a big boost of color – pick an opaque shade. For less “pow!” – go for a sheer.

How to Choose the Right Orange For You

  • For Olive/Tan Skin: Light apricot or bold orange
  • For Dark Skin- Tangerines or bright orange w/red undertones
  • For Fair Skin/Redheads- Coral or bright orange with pink undertones
  • For All Skin Types: Melon & punchy oranges with pink undertones (Revlon Moon Drops Frost Lipstick in 24K Orange 706 or Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti)

Pair your pout with…

Foundation is a must when wearing a bold color like orange. Why? You want to make sure your skin is evened out and rid of any redness or blemishes. You don’t want your skin clashing with your new lips! Think simple and fresh skin for this look. It is also important to balance the lip with a sophisticated eye and cheek.  Keep the eyes tasteful by just curling the lashes and applying a few coats of voluminous mascara.  If you want a bit more definition in your eyes (without overpowering the lip) try a soft eyeliner in a neutral color.  Of course, in any makeup application, the first step is prepping skin, so with the lips always moisturize and smooth the surface before applying vibrant lip color.
