The Dish with DDR: Why You Should Try A Non-Toxic Lipstick!

The Dish with DDR: Why You Should Try A Non-Toxic Lipstick!

If there’s one thing I can’t leave the house without, its lip gloss or lipstick! Lipstick, just, completes “the look!”

I am a stickler for not only sticking to a healthy diet, but also healthy beauty products. So, when I read an article one day about the amounts of toxins in many beauty brands lip wear I was astonished! One study found that more than 400 lipsticks currently on the market contain lead as an ingredient. Sure, many of us have probably heard this countless times before, but to think about the amount of lead we’re ingesting over a lifetime is disgusting and in time, could potentially affect your health.

Needless to say, I set out on the hunt to find better, healthier lipsticks, lip glosses…anything lip related that I (and you) can wear without being fearful of compromising health.

Look for:

  • Shea Butter
  • Argan oil
  • Jojoba
  • Organic and All Natural

Ingredients to avoid:

  • Petroleum
  • Silicone
  • Mineral Oil
  • Petrochemicals

The products I found vary on the percentage of natural and organic ingredients and are much safer and cleaner to wear.

Other healthy lipstick brands I love:

In all, this is not only a lesson in where to find better lipsticks for your health, but also to learn to be more mindful of the things we do on a daily basis, more specifically, things we put on our skin and in our bodies on a daily basis (and for most women, that means using lip balm, gloss or lipstick).

I hope you found this helpful and I’d love to hear about some of your favorite healthy beauty brands!
