Have you ever been so in LOVE with a product’s packaging, that you just wanted to purchase it regardless of whether or not you knew how good the product really was? That’s me and Yves Saint Laurent’s lip line. A heavy lipstick tube coated in a luxurious gold with the YSL logo carved out has always caught my eye in-store or in public. It was always the one beauty product that stopped me in my tracks and made me want to be seen whipping it out at dinner or at a party, regardless of the fact that I didn’t really do my research behind the actual lipstick itself.
Well my time had finally come. Special thanks to one of my BFFs and DIVAlicious contributor, Kate, for hooking me up with two YSL bad boys – Rouge Volupté in Beige Ultimate and Rouge Volupté Shine in Pourpre Intouchable. I can’t rave enough how essential both are for the Fall season!
Rouge Volupté in Beige Ultimate
Without even opening the tube, I knew this color was the one. Beige Ultimate is a mauve taupe that is PERFECT for the everyday diva with a more olive/tinted skin tone, especially in the colder months. I can always enjoy a light pink nude that’s super versatile, but I’ll happily choose a more pigmented rosy mauve over that any day.

Why is this my new signature lipstick?
- VERY creamy. Application feels more silky smooth than any other I’ve tried so far.
- Lightweight formula
- Opaque, well-pigmented nude shade
- Keeps lips moist and hydrated for hours (4-5)
- SPF 15 (!!!)
- Lips are visibly smooth with a hint of shine.
- No flaking (!!!)
I also love that very little is needed for full coverage, versus a matte lipstick that needs more than 2 swipes of application.
Rouge Volupté Shine in Pourpre Intouchable
#HOLLA, It’s vamp season divas! Although Poupre Intouchable is described as a “deep airy purple”, it actually appears as more of a raspberry color. It’s a gorgeous shade that’s only fitting for a date night or GNO!
Why I love this vamp lippie?
- Buttery smooth formula. Application is super easy.
- Packed with antioxidants from pomegranate and rosemary extracts for lip conditioning
- Ultra-moisturizing
- Lipstick melts into lips, giving them an instant hydrating feeling and a shiny glow
- Bright, pigmented color
One thing to note about this one is that you’ll need to be extra careful about slipping beyond the lip line since the formula allows the lipstick to glide right on. For this, I would suggest using a lip liner beforehand.
Besides the romantic packaging, what struck me when I first opened both lipsticks was the amazing fruity fragrance they gave off, which totally added to their luxe, YSL element. Also, while both don’t last on the lips for the 8 hours as described, they do leave a beautiful matte stain that does not at all bother me if I don’t reapply.
