DISCLAIMER. This is a sparkly eye look. But think, like, carefree hippie in a beautiful field tossing glitter in the air and watching it catch the light. That kind of shimmer.

Nothing adolescent or amateur about it. More playful and romantic. And perfect for holiday.

So without further adieu, here is my boho glam look on my fittingly fresh-faced and free-spirited friend Christina Ballinger of Webster Hall fame…

Starting with the products and steps used.

To begin, let’s review the “BASIC FACE” – how I set the canvas before applying eyes or lips. 

1. Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet. Just a drop or two gives a flawless matte finish. No powdering necessary.

2. Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer. Tap this highly concentrated cream onto any areas needing spot correction. 

3. Rouge Bunny Rouge Blush Wand in Rubens. Press this cream onto the apples of the cheeks and up towards the temples. 

4. BeautiControl Color Pure Touch Blush. Swirl this powder over the cream to set and boost the color.

Now the foundation, literally and figuratively, is set for some facial feature play.

LIPS

To allow the eyes to really pop, I could have done a true-nude/flesh-toned lip. But (1) I didn’t want anything to read as mod or costumey (2) I really wanted soft, simple cohesion and (3) CB has a ton of pink/red tone in her lip naturally. So instead I used the Rouge Bunny Rouge Blush Wand in Rubens (that we used on the cheek) and pressed it onto her lips as well.

The monochromatic effect looks seamless, the application looks effortless and, most importantly, it keeps the focus on the pretty peepers.

EYES

1. NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Black Bean. Glide the jumbo stick along upper and lower lashline, meeting at each corner. Smudge the lower lashline for an up-all-night feel.

2. Illamasqua Vintage Metallix in Embellish. Pop it right into that crease and blend. Add a touch to the lower lashline as well to give all that black some richness and depth.

3. Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Eyeshadow in Bora Bora Bronze and Rio de Rose Gold. Add the bronze to the inner and outer corners and the rosegold to the center of each lid.

4. Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow in D-124 (Diamond Finish) Crystalline White. Pat this shimmer shadow onto the very center of lids only. 

5. Lashes. Rock out with your favorite falsies!

Now, we take beauty seriously (mostly).

But of course a makeup sesh with a friend would have to end up all fun and games. {Insert bunny ear girls dancing emoji here.}

#FOREVERYOUNG. It’s kind of a lifestyle.

And as a parting gift, why not throw in a stunning black & white for good measure?
