This fall’s hottest lip trends: matte & vamp.

So how does a diva conquer the season? She takes one shot, and she never, ever misses.

Her weapon of choice? NYX Matte Lipstick in Merlot. 

With Merlot (as it is very appropriately named), I was finally able to take a successful stab at the seemingly intimidating vamp trend, without looking like an actual vampire! It was the perfect plum red for my pale complexion.

Fairly small warning: the packaging is a little tricky, so a bit of caution is needed when capping this lippie. But this tiny flaw is definitely overshadowed by the awesome formulation. These lipsticks not only have great pigmentation, but can also be effortlessly layered for richer color if desired. As for texture, it goes on creamy and settles into a matte texture afterwards. Don’t worry; these lippies are definitely not overly-drying. I applied it without any lip balm beforehand, and I had no flaking – even after reapplication. 

As an added bonus, the price point of $6 makes it a total keeper. Just as Jess mentioned in her review for the NYX Butter Gloss, price really doesn’t signal quality! 

Time to stock up on some more shades… ;)
