Review: OROGOLD Luxury Skincare (Is it good as gold?)

Review: OROGOLD Luxury Skincare (Is it good as gold?)

Let’s rewind back to August – when I first learned of the skincare line that contains pure gold in its products. When LDiva and I attended the launch of New York City’s OROGOLD flagship, we were curious to see if the products really were as special as they appeared to be (even despite the fancy packaging).

Could gold products really benefit our skin or have “healing properties?” Not to mention price points as high as $1,500!

We were each prescribed a regimen and given products to test for ourselves.

Let’s start with Lauren, who was looking to correct sun spots and freckles on her cheeks. She had just finished using a product (Elure) that she loved. Prior to using Orogold, Elure had already broken up the patches of freckles, lightened them and made them smaller, Lauren notes.

“I felt that Elure was very effective and also not as traumatic on the skin as a series of glycolic peel facials or lasers from a dermatologist. I was hoping to achieve similar results with the Orogold.”

24K Bio-Brightening Dark Spot Solution; $278

As we all know, sometimes our skin gets used to a certain product and we need to switch. So LDiva tried Orogold’s 24K Bio-Brightening Dark Spot Solution. She used the serum in the morning prior to applying SPF and in the evening before applying night cream.

“This product really helped to lighten and eliminate,” Lauren says, adding that the product is worth the money only if you have sun damage, discoloration, melasma or hyperpigmentation.

24K Bio-Brightening Skin Tone Moisturizer SPF 30; $278

Lauren also tested the 24K Bio-Brightening Skin Tone Moisturizer SPF 30, which she only used in the morning because “SPF is a shield and at night you only want products that penetrate and not block.”

The product contains Vitamin A and Vitamin E and Lauren says it has an incredible overall nourishing quality about it.

“I love the feeling of it,” she says. “When you put this moisturizer on, it just feels luxurious on your skin.”

And while she can’t say gold as an ingredient is what made the moisturizer special, after using it her skin looked lush and was glowing.

“For me, that alone is worth the price.”

24K Oil Control Day Moisturizer Cream; $168

LDiva isn’t the only one who got to experience the amazing-ness of Orogold moisturizers. I was prescribed with the 24K Oil Control Day Moisturizer Cream – and it is just HEAVEN. I’m usually not a fan of moisturizers due to the oily factor. But this cream is specifically formulated to control that…and boy does it work!

The cream, which contains Vitamin E, Vitamin A and green tea, left my skin feeling fresh and clean (not to mention it smelled DELISH after every use). Because I tend to prefer serums in the morning, I used the moisturizer only at night time after washing my face.

24K Multi-Vitamin Deep Peeling; $178

I also tested the 24K Multi-Vitamin Deep Peeling, which was suggested for my acne-prone skin. Fueled with vitamins and antioxidants, this is one product that you definitely see working right before your eyes. As you massage the product into the skin in a circular motion, you will slowly begin to see the dead skin shed off (I know, right!?).

While this peel didn’t remove my acne, it did make my skin very smooth and successfully eliminated grime and other unsightliness.

Conclusion

While Lauren and I truly can’t answer for whether gold has healing properties, we believe that the products are worth the price if they’re effective on your skin. Not to mention the prices in contrast to other methods to achieve similar results are actually comparable.

“I think some people may even come to the brand just for the high price points and the inclusion of gold, but for me the targeted benefits addressed the problem so I could recommend the Bio-Brightening line,” Lauren says.

And for me? The combination of the 24K Oil Control Day Moisturizer Cream and 24K Multi-Vitamin Deep Peeling freed my face of dead skin cells and left my skin healthy, fresh and glowing.

Would you try OROGOLD products?
