Summer’s Not Over: 3 Beauty Must-Haves to Restock this Month

Summer’s Not Over: 3 Beauty Must-Haves to Restock this Month

Somehow it’s already August (seriously?!)… and though the summer season will soon come to a close, those sky-high temps certainly aren’t taking a break any time soon (especially for us New Yorkers!)

I know I for one am not a fan of damaging sunburns, melting makeup or parched lips (and who is?).

So as we continue to battle the harsh humidity and sometimes triple-digit heat, here’s what you should stay stocked up on for the remainder of this summer:

The Sure Thing: Sunscreen.

Sure, you hear it countless times every spring and summer season: “Wear SPF!” Well, there’s a reason the warnings are seemingly incessant. Skin cancer, to start, is kind of a big deal. Not to mention, exposure to sun will steal your good looks in the form of premature wrinkles and sun spots. So for health and for beauty, keep slathering it on. Year-round, actually.

Most agree SPF 30 is all you need. So pick up L’Oreal Sublime Sun Body Lotion SPF 30

Or if you’re looking for an amazing self-tanner plus SPF, check out my personal fave - Supergoop! SPF 20 Gradual Self-Tanning Sunscreen Mousse.

The Lightweight:  BB cream.

With all of the new beauty launches throughout the year, it’s no wonder women can’t keep up with all the latest products. And so many are seeming new versions of the same old thing. Well, whether you’re a skeptic or just happy with your current beauty routine, BB cream is truly one exception that’s worth a try when it comes to your makeup.

It’s all about finding the right formula. Trust me, I wasn’t a fan until I tried Clinique’s Age Defense BB Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30. And I have a feeling once you find yours, you’ll wear it well into Fall.

Here’s why: It’s a time-saver (skincare + foundation + SPF in one step!) and it’s weightless (feels comfortable and looks fresh!). Double whammy.

The Prep: Lip Balm.

I’m sure I’m not the only beauty gal who gets dry or chapped lips in August. To keep that pout kissable and, more importantly, moisturized, lip balm is a must.

So before applying your most fabulous new shade of lipstick, smooth and hydrate lips with a balm like Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm. Hey, it’s considered the best for a reason. And it will perfectly prep your lips for bright pinks and corals this month and vampy reds and burgundies in the months to come.

A big kiss to a great end of summer!
