We saw this trend on many a Spring 2014 runway – including Altuzarra, Tibi and Ralph Lauren – and reported on by many a glossy – including Glamour and Allure – and decided to give the easy, fresh look a go.
Would the white eyeliner trend become our go-to spring/summer beauty look, or just… end up a wash??
I enlisted the help of Miss Jessica to find out.
To recreate this look, you really only need one hero product and that is NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk.
As in, just add milk.
You can apply it thick or thin depending on how you angle the tip, plus layer for intensity or smudge for blending. You can really customize the look however you’d like. With a single item that only costs $4.50, mind you.
We paired the trend with another from the Spring 2014 collections (Rag & Bone, DKNY, Christian Siriano, Prabal Gurung, DSquared)- the orange lip. We chose Maybelline Color Sensational Color Vivids in Electric Orange (an LDIVA fave!).
I quickly patted the products on my makeup muse and – viola! Off to a Williamsburg gallery party we go…
Of her new look, Jessica says “white eyeliner is a beauty staple for every gal because it instantly gives the eyes a refreshing look” and this particular way of wearing it (not in the waterline for a pick-me-up but instead rimming the full eye) gives off “a sultry vibe.” Jess thinks it’s perf for “the everyday diva.”
Couldn’t agree more.
A much needed, if only temporary, departure from the smoky eye.
