Festival Makeup – Simple and Chic

Festival Makeup – Simple and Chic

Last year, I was fortunate enough to be able to travel to the opposite coast and attend Coachella Valley Music Festival in Indio, California.  It was such an amazing experience overall, but after spending 20 hours each day for 3 days in the blazing hot sun, I quickly learned that wearing a fully made-up face (as seen by celebrities on various media outlets) was completely impossible.  Sadly, I will not be attending any festivals this year, but for those who are attending one of the many on the circuit, here is your guide to glamming up, without melting to pieces!

THE PRODUCTS:

1. Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream (With SPF 35!)

2. Maybelline ColorSensational Rebel Bloom Lipstick in shade, “Power Peony”

3. Maybelline Master Kajal Eyeliner in shade, “Navy Knight

4. Maybelline Brow Drama Brow Gel

EYES/FACE:

One of the most important things I learned last year was that wearing a full-face of foundation is a no-no. Not only did it melt off my face, but most foundations don’t contain SPF!  To keep your face safe from sunburn, opt for a BB or CC cream with a higher SPF in it.  I chose Smashbox’s BB Cream because not only does it have a high SPF in it, you can smell the sunscreen it it as an extra reassurance that it’s in there!

During festival season, there is a ton of face design makeup displayed.  I took the Maybelline Master Kajal Eyeliner in shade, “Navy Knight”, and applied dots in a “>” shape around my eye to add some color and fun, without going overboard.  I love how this eyeliner is silky-smooth, and doesn’t have a tacky texture like face paint does.  A simple design, such as this one, is super chic, and easy to replicate!

Sticking to the ‘Simplistic and Chic” look, I applied a thin brush of Maybelline Brow Drama Brow Gel to my eyebrows to keep my brows in place.

LIPS:

To add some more color, I chose Maybelline ColorSensational Rebel Bloom Lipstick in shade, “Power Peony” as my lipstick of choice because it glides on smoothly, is mostly opaque, and is a soft pastel, which is perfect to compliment my face design!  Also, when it wears off during the day, it will be easy to either swipe off permanently, or re-apply without becoming messy or too much of a task.

Have fun this festival season!

LOVE this post! And one thing I might add is that SPF won’t only prevent sunburn but also premature aging. Ain’t nobody got time for fine lines and wrinkles… Believe me, I know!
